The victim has been identified as 30-year-old Giselle Salazar, a mother of four who had recently moved to the area to escape an abusive relationship, according to local news station KPRC.
Unusual Positioning Raises Suspicions
League City Police Department revealed that when Salazar’s body was found, one of her arms was in an upright position without any support. Detectives believe that she may have died elsewhere and then been placed at the dock, with her arm stiffening due to rigor mortis in the new position.
Authorities are awaiting the results from the medical examiner’s office to determine the exact cause of Salazar’s death. While two individuals have been identified as persons of interest in the case, no arrests have been made so far.
Families Demand Justice
Salazar’s sister, Esperanza Alegria, told ABC station KTRK that the family is seeking justice for Giselle. She emphasized that her sister did not take her own life and that they want the responsible parties to face charges for their actions.
According to KTRK, Salazar had been living with her boyfriend on a boat at the Wharf Marina since March. The boyfriend denied any involvement in her death and stated that he last saw her leaving the boat to use the bathroom before she went missing.
He mentioned that his surveillance cameras malfunctioned around the time of Salazar’s death, with one camera missing and the other turned away manually. However, police are reviewing thousands of security video clips as part of their investigation.

Nathan Paz, Salazar’s brother, described her as a charismatic individual who was trying to make positive changes in her life. The family is now raising funds for her funeral and to support her children through a crowdfunding campaign.
