MESQUITE, Texas – A registered sex offender in Mesquite has been charged with kidnapping a young girl.
Local authorities in Mesquite, Texas, have pressed charges against a convicted sex offender for the abduction of a juvenile girl.
According to Mesquite police reports, the incident was reported on June 6, when the young girl was reported missing.
The girl was reportedly approached by a man driving a red minivan at the intersection of Gross Road and Ridgeview Street. The man offered her a ride home, which she accepted.
However, instead of taking her home as promised, the man drove towards Dallas, ignoring the girl’s directions.
During the journey, the man allegedly made inappropriate advances towards the child, resulting in a struggle. The vehicle came to a stop on I-20, where the man attempted to remove the girl from the van.
Fortunately, the girl managed to escape and sought help at a nearby Dallas fire station.
Law enforcement officials were able to identify the suspect, Doyle Tipton, a registered sex offender, through traffic surveillance cameras in the vicinity of the abduction.
Tipton has since been apprehended and charged with aggravated kidnapping in connection with the incident.
