Accident – Death – Obituary News : A Lynnfield resident is currently facing charges in connection with a shooting incident that occurred on Boston Common, resulting in another individual sustaining life-threatening injuries. Dana Loder, aged 30, is set to appear in Boston Municipal Court to answer to charges such as carrying a loaded firearm without a license (2nd offense), possession of crack cocaine, and other related offenses, as per the Boston Police Department.
The incident unfolded when officers on patrol in the vicinity of Winter and Tremont streets heard gunshots emanating from the Common shortly after 10 p.m. Upon arrival, they witnessed several individuals fleeing in different directions, with one particular individual acting suspiciously by clutching his waistband. This individual, later identified as Loder, was seen discarding a firearm on the ground before attempting to evade the officers. Following a foot chase, he was eventually apprehended in the area of 131 Tremont Street.
Subsequently, a victim suffering from critical gunshot wounds was discovered within the Common and promptly transported to a nearby hospital for urgent medical attention. The area surrounding the crime scene was cordoned off with yellow tape as investigators collected evidence and conducted inquiries into the circumstances leading up to the shooting.
The Boston Police Homicide Unit has taken charge of the investigation to ascertain the details surrounding the incident. Anyone possessing information pertaining to the shooting is urged to reach out to detectives at 617-343-4470.
