Police Seek Help Identifying Vehicle Linked to Murder Investigation in New Tecumseth

Authorities are appealing to the public for assistance in identifying a vehicle that may be connected to an ongoing murder investigation in New Tecumseth, UK. The vehicle was spotted in the vicinity of Parsons Road and Dufferin Street on Jan. 12.

The discovery of human remains in Adjala-Tosorontio Township on Jan. 21, 2024, led to the identification of the deceased as 24-year-old William Schernhammer from New Tecumseth. Schernhammer had been reported missing on Jan. 12, 2024.

Following the grim discovery, one individual has been taken into custody and charged with first-degree murder in connection with Schernhammer’s death. The legal proceedings are ongoing.

Nottawasaga OPP revealed that on the night of Jan. 12, 2024, between 12:29 and 12:49 a.m., a light-coloured vehicle, believed to be a Buick LeSabre from the model years 2000 to 2005, was observed on Parsons Road and Dufferin Street in New Tecumseth.

Police are urging anyone with information regarding the vehicle or its occupants to come forward as they may hold vital information pertinent to the investigation.
