Gulfport Police are currently conducting an investigation into a shooting incident that occurred at Emerald Pines Apartments overnight. This incident marks the third shooting to take place within a 24-hour period in the area.
According to a social media post made by the police department just before midnight, the shooting took place in the 3300 block of 39th Avenue, where Emerald Pines Apartments are situated. Earlier in the evening, officers responded to another shooting incident around 5:30 p.m. in the 13000 block of Dedeaux Road. Fortunately, no injuries were reported, but multiple vehicles and a residence were damaged by gunfire.
Authorities have taken several suspects into custody in connection with the earlier shooting incident. The first shooting that occurred within this 24-hour timeframe was reported at approximately 1:30 a.m. on Monday in the 100 block of Darby Street. Tragically, a 16-year-old male named Christopher Brown from Gulfport was found with a gunshot wound and succumbed to his injuries.
