Disturbing details have emerged in the statement of charges against Emanuel Sewell, who stands accused of the brutal murder of Maryland Parole and Probation agent Davis Martinez in Chevy Chase on May 31st.

The statement of charges, released by the office of the State’s Attorney, paints a harrowing picture of the events leading up to Martinez’s tragic death. According to the document, on May 31, 2024, at 1750 HRS, the Emergency Communications Center (ECC) received a call requesting a welfare check on a Maryland State Probation agent who had failed to return to work after conducting a resident check of a registered sex offender.

Upon arrival at 2815 Terrace Drive, Chevy Chase, Montgomery County, Maryland, Montgomery County Police officers discovered the residence locked with closed blinds. Despite attempts to establish communication with the probation agent and the occupant of the property, no response was received. The probation agent’s cell phone was later located near two dumpsters approximately 50 yards from the residence, with a search of the area yielding no further clues.

Forced entry into the property revealed a chilling scene – an unresponsive male wrapped in plastic bags beneath a bed, with a bloodied towel nearby. The victim was identified as 33-year-old Davis Martinez, the missing probation agent, who was pronounced dead at the scene.

The primary suspect in the case, Emanuel Edward Sewell, a registered sex offender and sole occupant of the property, remains at large. Sewell’s grey 2017 Hyundai Elantra, registered with Maryland plates 93661HT, is also missing. Investigators are treating Martinez’s death as a homicide, though the exact cause of his injuries is yet to be determined.

During the initial stages of the investigation, a witness from the neighbourhood, identified as “W1”, provided crucial information about Sewell’s activities on the day of the murder. W1 reported seeing Sewell leaving his residence with trash bags of clothes shortly after Martinez’s disappearance.

Based on the evidence gathered so far, the authorities have requested an arrest warrant for Emanuel Sewell on charges of first-degree murder in Montgomery County, Maryland.
