Accident – Death – Obituary News :

As of 4 p.m. on June 10, Conneaut police dispatchers have confirmed that search crews are back out looking for the missing 10-year-old boy. The US Coast Guard had previously suspended their search on Sunday but resumed efforts on Saturday.

The boy, identified as Hunter, was an upcoming sixth-grade student at Springfield Local Schools in Ohio. The school district has provided grief counseling and support to staff and students following the tragic incident.

The search, which has now turned into a recovery mission, began when calls came in before 1:30 p.m. on Friday reporting the missing child at Conneaut Beach. City manager of Conneaut, Nicholas Sanford, stated that members of the Conneaut Police and Fire Departments, the U.S. Coast Guard, as well as underwater search teams and search and rescue dogs, are involved in the search efforts.

Partner agencies such as ODNR, dive teams, and Coast Guard units from Erie/Fairport and Detroit are assisting in the search. Recovery operations were paused on Friday evening and scheduled to continue on Saturday morning.

The National Weather Service had issued warnings about strong rip currents at Lake Erie beaches earlier in the week, advising beachgoers to avoid the water. The City of Conneaut and Ashtabula County crisis response team are providing support to the boy’s family during this difficult time.

This remains a developing story, and updates will be provided as more information becomes available.
