The discovery of Pangle’s body was made by an adult and their child near a business on the 200 block of McDowell Street. They immediately called 911, and emergency services responded promptly. The Asheville Police Department and Asheville Fire Department confirmed Pangle’s death upon arrival at the scene.

Although initial investigations did not suggest foul play, the exact cause of Pangle’s death remains unknown. The police are awaiting the results of the autopsy from the medical examiner’s office to shed light on the circumstances surrounding his passing.

Pangle’s stepfather, Chris Creel, revealed that Pangle had a medical condition, but it is unclear if this played a role in his death. Described as a loving family member and community-oriented individual, Pangle had been working as a janitor at Asheville High School for about a year. Prior to this role, he had worked as a cook at Oakley Elementary and Brooks Howell Home in Asheville, where he formed close bonds with the students.

A lover of cooking, Pangle often shared stories of his kitchen adventures with his family. Apart from his culinary talents, Pangle was also an avid movie enthusiast, with a soft spot for ’80s action films, especially “Die Hard”.

Remembered as a “beloved son, brother, and uncle,” Pangle had a twin brother, two nieces, and a special friend named Jamie. Originally from Chattanooga, Tennessee, Pangle spent a significant part of his life in Knoxville before relocating to Asheville.

Describing Pangle as a generous and sociable individual, Creel recalled how Pangle never hesitated to help others and had a natural ability to connect with people. He was known for his joyful demeanour and will be dearly missed by those who knew him.

The tragic passing of Justin Marshall Pangle has left a void in the hearts of his loved ones and the Asheville community. As investigations continue and the autopsy results are awaited, friends and family are left to mourn the loss of a kind-hearted individual who touched the lives of many..
