An armed robbery at a 7-Eleven on Ritchie Highway in Glen Burnie resulted in a quick police response and the subsequent arrest of the suspect early on June 9, 2024. The incident occurred around 4:30 AM when a male perpetrator entered the convenience store, wielding a handgun and demanding money from the clerk, who complied with the demands.

The suspect, identified as 21-year-old Chive Omar Benjamin from Baltimore, Maryland, fled the scene on foot after the robbery. Law enforcement officers swiftly searched the surrounding area and apprehended Benjamin near Polk Circle. This led to further investigations, including the execution of a search warrant on a white Toyota Camry believed to be associated with Benjamin.

During the search of the vehicle, authorities discovered crucial evidence, including a loaded firearm, $702 in U.S. currency, approximately 165 grams of suspected cannabis, and around 145 grams of suspected crack cocaine. These findings played a pivotal role in substantiating the charges against Benjamin.

This arrest highlights the persistent challenges and risks associated with commercial robberies and underscores the importance of prompt law enforcement responses and thorough investigative procedures. Benjamin currently faces charges related to armed robbery, drug possession, and firearms offenses.
