Renowned Kannada film actor Darshan Thoogudeepa has been taken into custody in connection with an alleged murder case, as confirmed by police sources on Tuesday.
Authorities apprehended the 47-year-old actor from a hotel in Mysuru for his suspected involvement in the murder of a man named Renuka Swamy on June 9. The tragic incident occurred within the Kamakshipalya police station limits in Bengaluru, according to reliable sources.
Following the purported killing, Swamy, who was employed at a pharmacy and was a resident of Chitradurga, had his body disposed of in a stormwater drain in Kamakshipalya.
It is believed that Swamy had made disparaging remarks about a female film star in a social media post, which may have led to the fatal altercation.
Local residents alerted law enforcement officials about the gruesome murder, prompting an immediate response from the police.
Postmortem examinations confirmed that Swamy had indeed been a victim of homicide, as indicated by forensic reports.
Subsequent investigations yielded the arrest of several suspects, who eventually implicated Darshan in the crime, as per a police spokesperson.
