Accident – Death – Obituary News : Nine individuals tragically lost their lives in the horrific Reasi terror attack that unfolded on Sunday. Among the victims were four members of a family, including a two-year-old boy, who perished after the bus they were traveling in careened into a gorge following a barrage of gunfire by terrorists. Additionally, two cousins hailing from Uttar Pradesh’s Balrampur were among the nine fatalities.
The ill-fated 53-seater bus was en route from the Shiv Khori temple to Katra when it veered off the road due to the onslaught of gunfire, plunging into a deep gorge near the Teryath village in the Poni area. Among the deceased were Jaipur-based cloth merchant Rajendra Saini (42), his wife Mamta (40), their relative Pooja Saini (30), and her young son Levansh, also known as Titu.
Heartbreakingly, Om Prakash Saini, the father of Pooja, shared with The Indian Express that Rajendra and Mamta’s children have yet to be informed of their parents’ tragic demise.
Rajendra Saini and Mamta were residents of Chomu town in Jaipur district, while Pooja hailed from Ajmera ki Dhani in the Harmada area on Chomu road.
The entire family, including Pooja’s husband Pavan, had embarked on a journey to Vaishno Devi on June 7. Tragically, a relative notified Pooja’s father at 9:15 pm on Sunday that the bus carrying their loved ones had come under a terrorist attack. Pavan sustained injuries but has since been discharged from medical care.
The bodies of the four individuals from Jaipur arrived in the Pink City by train on Tuesday, as confirmed by police sources to PTI. Subsequently, the deceased were transported to Harmada and Chomu by their grieving family members and relatives.
The two victims from Balrampur in Uttar Pradesh were identified as Ruby and her maternal cousin Anurag Verma, according to the PTI report. Ruby, a student pursuing her graduation and also working as a teacher in a private school, and her cousin Anurag were part of a group of 13 from Balrampur who had embarked on a pilgrimage to the Mata Vaishno Devi shrine in Katra. Tragically, Ruby’s mother Vimla Devi and elder sister Maina Verma sustained injuries in the brutal attack.
District Magistrate of Balrampur, Arvind Singh, disclosed that 12 pilgrims from the district had undertaken the journey to the sacred Mata Vaishno Devi shrine in Jammu.
The untimely loss of lives in the Reasi terror attack has left families shattered and communities in mourning, underscoring the need for peace and unity in the face of such senseless violence..
