Accident – Death – Obituary News : A 25-year-old tourist tragically lost his life at Hebbe waterfalls in Karnataka on Monday after slipping into the water. The tourist, identified as Shravan from Hyderabad, had travelled to Chikkamagalur with his friends for a leisurely vacation.
Reports suggest that Shravan arrived in Chikkamagalur by bus and rented a bike to explore the picturesque surroundings. On the fateful day, he and his friends decided to visit Hebbe waterfalls on their bikes. Unfortunately, due to recent heavy rainfall, the water flow at the falls was strong, and the rocks surrounding the area were extremely slippery. In a tragic accident, Shravan slipped and fell into the waterfall.
Local residents came to his rescue and managed to pull him out of the water. Despite being alive when retrieved, Shravan was rushed to a nearby hospital where he was pronounced dead shortly after arrival.
A senior police officer commented, “The group of friends did not possess swimming skills and yet ventured into the water, unaware of the high water flow.”
This incident comes in the wake of a recent tragedy where nine out of 22 trekkers from Bengaluru lost their lives due to harsh weather conditions during a trek in the Uttarkashi region of Uttarakhand. The group, accompanied by the Himalayan View Trekking Agency, embarked on a 35-km trek from Uttarkashi. However, on their return journey, adverse weather conditions at high altitudes left them stranded on the mountainside.
These unfortunate incidents serve as a stark reminder of the importance of safety precautions and awareness when engaging in outdoor activities, especially during unpredictable weather conditions.
