Accident – Death – Obituary News : A man in Bengaluru reportedly made a suicide attempt by jumping onto the tracks of the Purple Line metro on Monday evening. The incident took place at the Magadi Road metro station around 8 pm, and the man was quickly taken to a nearby hospital for treatment.
According to reports, the individual, identified as Sagar and aged 30, leaped onto the tracks just before the train arrived. Fortunately, the train did not collide with him, but he did sustain a head injury in the process. The Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL) officials were promptly notified, and the power supply to the tracks was partially disabled as a precautionary measure.
The disruption caused by the incident affected metro services at several stations in Bengaluru, including KSR Bengaluru, Magadi Road, Hosahalli, Vijayanagar, Attiguppe, and Deepanjali Nagar. However, normal operations resumed within 30 minutes of the incident.
Unfortunately, incidents of individuals jumping onto metro tracks in Bengaluru have been on the rise. In a tragic event in March, a 19-year-old law student lost his life after being struck by a train on the metro tracks. Additionally, just a few weeks ago, another man ventured onto the viaduct area of the Kengeri metro station, leading to disruptions in service between Rajarajeshwari Nagar and Kengeri stations.
Earlier in January, a young man jumped onto the tracks as a train approached the metro station. Fortunately, the alert loco pilot spotted the individual and managed to stop the train using emergency brakes. While the train did make partial contact with the man, he was rescued by the security staff.
In response to these incidents, the BMRCL has taken proactive measures by deploying security personnel at all metro stations and issuing warnings to passengers about the severe consequences of trespassing onto the tracks.
It is imperative for individuals to exercise caution and refrain from endangering their lives by venturing onto metro tracks for any reason. Safety should always be the top priority when using public transportation systems..
