Kentucky State Police has launched a death investigation in Letcher County following a distressing discovery in the early hours of Sunday morning.
The authorities were alerted to the scene just before 1:00 a.m. after receiving a 911 call reporting the finding of a deceased woman on Doty Creek in the Jeremiah community of Letcher County.
The victim has been identified as 57-year-old Trina Sandlin, a resident of Jeremiah. Sandlin was reported missing by her family after she failed to return home from a visit to a neighbour’s house.
Following a search by her loved ones, Sandlin’s body was discovered near her residence, lying at the bottom of an embankment. It was evident that she had sustained injuries consistent with those caused by an animal attack.
Kentucky State Police is currently conducting a comprehensive investigation into the circumstances surrounding Sandlin’s tragic death. The community of Letcher County is in shock following this disturbing incident.
