A shocking incident unfolded in Boston on Sunday when a 12-year-old boy was arrested for assault after allegedly threatening a victim with a knife. The Boston Police Department reported the incident on Monday, detailing the events that led to the arrest.

According to Boston Police, the incident took place around 6 p.m. in the vicinity of Washington Street and Chilcott Street in Roxbury. Reports indicated that a group of five juveniles had threatened a victim with a knife in that area.

Upon arriving at the scene, officers conducted a thorough search and eventually located a group of individuals matching the description near Montebello Street and Haverford Street. During a frisk, a knife was discovered on one of the subjects, leading to the arrest of the 12-year-old male.

The young boy was charged with delinquency and assault with a dangerous weapon. While no charges were reported against the other four individuals involved, the 12-year-old is set to be arraigned in Boston Juvenile Court.

Firearm Recovered After Traffic Stop

In a separate incident on the same day, Boston Police recovered a firearm after suspects attempted to flee a traffic stop and crashed their vehicle in Mattapan.

The suspects initially caught the attention of police by abruptly pulling over into a no parking zone without using turn signals in an Infiniti sedan on Talbot Ave in the early hours of Sunday. Upon closer inspection, officers noticed three men inside the vehicle.

As the police attempted to conduct a traffic stop, they were met with several challenges. One of the passengers exited the vehicle to confront and yell at the officers, while the driver became confrontational. The situation escalated when the driver tried to drive off with an officer partially inside the vehicle. Fortunately, the officer managed to exit safely without sustaining injuries.

Despite the suspects’ attempt to flee, they crashed the vehicle into a parked car shortly after. Although the officers gave chase, they lost sight of the suspects. However, their diligent search efforts paid off when a firearm was discovered in the area where the suspects were last seen.

The recovered firearm was identified as a Smith & Wesson 9 Compact, loaded with one 9mm round in the chamber and seven 9mm rounds in the magazine.

Identification of Suspect

The driver of the vehicle was later identified as Demetrius Steed, a 30-year-old resident of Dorchester. Steed was issued a Mass Uniform Citation for a range of offences, including Failure to Stop for Police, Negligent Operation of a Motor Vehicle, and Leaving the Scene of an Accident with Property Damage.
