CORDELE, Georgia — A 36-year-old man, identified as Rakim Jackson from Cordele, was arrested by the Crisp County Sheriff’s Office for reckless conduct after allegedly firing a gun in the air during a large gathering in Cordele.
Incident Details
The incident took place around 1:20 a.m. on Sunday near 7th Street South in Cordele. Law enforcement officers responded to reports of a large crowd gathering in the area and attempted to disperse the group.
Upon arrival, deputies heard gunshots being fired. A deputy witnessed Jackson shooting a gun in the air multiple times. While apprehending Jackson, additional shots were fired, although no other individuals were arrested in connection with the incident.
Authorities were alerted to two residences near the scene of the shootings where they discovered bullet holes and shell casings.
Legal Action
Jackson was taken into custody and booked into the Crisp County jail. The sheriff’s office is continuing its investigation to identify any other individuals involved in the shooting.

In a press release, the sheriff’s office cautioned against the dangerous practice of firing gunshots into the air, as falling bullets can pose a significant risk to public safety.
