A Biloxi man, Kelvin Voneric Skinner, 35, has been taken into custody by Biloxi Police and charged with arson and simple assault on a law enforcement officer.
The arrest occurred following a call to the 2200 block of Pass Road, where officers responded to reports of a fire in a building. Upon arrival, officers discovered Skinner barricaded in a room on the second floor, refusing to cooperate with authorities.
According to police, Skinner was identified as the suspect responsible for intentionally setting the fire. Despite attempts to persuade him to surrender, Skinner refused to comply and eventually jumped from the second-story window.
During the arrest, Skinner allegedly kicked one of the officers in the chest. However, law enforcement was able to detain him without further incident.
Skinner is currently being held at the Harrison County Adult Detention Center on a bond set at £150,000 by Justice Court Judge Albert Fountain.
