PORT ST. LUCIE — A devastating incident unfolded over the weekend in Port St. Lucie, resulting in the untimely death of a 32-year-old woman in a vehicle crash on Southeast Veterans Memorial Parkway, as confirmed by the Port St. Lucie Police Department.

Authorities responded to the scene of the single-vehicle crash at the intersection of Southeast Veterans Memorial Parkway and Southeast Seafury Lane around 5:40 p.m. on Saturday. This location is situated in close proximity to the U.S. Post Office on Southeast Veterans Memorial Parkway, just north of Southeast Port St. Lucie Boulevard.

The tragic event transpired as a 2014 Jeep Cherokee was travelling northbound on Southeast Veterans Memorial Parkway at a dangerously high speed, according to Sgt. Dominick Mesiti, the police spokesperson, who addressed the media on Monday.

The driver of the vehicle, identified as Samantha Folk, a resident of Port St. Lucie, lost control of the Jeep, causing it to collide with a concrete utility pole in the median. The impact was so severe that Folk was ejected from the vehicle, which sustained extensive damage. Tragically, Folk succumbed to her injuries at the scene.

Following the crash, the roadway had to be closed for several hours to facilitate investigations and clear the area, stated Mesiti.

Law enforcement officials are currently conducting a thorough investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident.
