A Toms River motorcyclist is fighting for his life in hospital after a serious crash in Manchester on Sunday, authorities have confirmed.

The incident occurred at around 1:11 pm at the intersection of County Route 571 and Beacon Street, involving a motorcycle and a car, according to Manchester Township Police. Upon arrival at the scene, officers discovered the motorcyclist, identified as 30-year-old Collins Oluleti, lying in the road with a severe head injury.

Oluleti was unresponsive and was airlifted to Jersey Shore University Medical Center in Neptune, where he remains in critical condition, police reported.

The crash involved Oluleti’s black 2024 Kawasaki Vulcan S motorcycle and a silver 2004 Toyota Camry driven by 26-year-old Andy Hernandez-Cheneaux of Toms River. The Toyota had damage to the front driver side bumper corner, while the Kawasaki was found lying on its right side in the eastbound lane of County Route 571.

According to Manchester Police, the investigation revealed that the Kawasaki was travelling east on County Route 571 in the left lane, while the Toyota was heading north on Beacon Street and came to a stop at the intersection. Oluleti attempted to brake to avoid a collision, causing him to lose control and fall to the pavement. The Kawasaki and Oluleti slid along the road, with Oluleti ultimately colliding with the front end of the Toyota.

Despite wearing an approved DOT helmet, Oluleti’s helmet fell off as he slid on the pavement towards the Toyota, police noted.

Hernandez-Cheneaux and the three passengers in the Toyota were uninjured in the crash, police confirmed. The investigation into the incident is ongoing.
