According to reports from Miami-Dade Police, the victim, Odalys Bancroft, 43, was sitting in her minivan with her young son when they pulled up to the bank’s ATM for a routine transaction. It was at this moment that Lozano, her ex-boyfriend, pulled up in an SUV and opened fire, tragically ending the lives of the mother and son.
Family members of Bancroft expressed shock and disbelief at the tragic turn of events, with her brother, Michael Trujillo, mentioning that while there were some concerns about Lozano, nothing indicated the extreme violence that transpired.

Described as kind-hearted and empathetic, Odalys Bancroft was a dedicated professional working as the director of regulatory affairs at Jackson Health System. She had a long history with the hospital system, starting as a clinical staff nurse in 2015 and eventually moving into leadership positions at Holtz Children’s Hospital.
Her son, Theodore Couto, affectionately known as Teddy, had recently graduated from PreK-4 and was set to celebrate his fifth birthday in the coming month.
