Accident – Death – Obituary News :

DeKalb County police have released the identities of two men involved in a tragic murder-suicide in the area. The victim has been identified as Christian Chestnut, aged 37, while the suspect has been named as Michael Durieux, aged 38. Shockingly, it was revealed that Durieux was a Reserve Sergeant with the Fort Valley Police Department.

The incident unfolded on a Friday evening, just before 7:30 p.m., when officers responded to a call on Rainbow Drive reporting a person shot. Upon arrival, they discovered Chestnut suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. Witnesses at the scene informed authorities that a second man, later identified as Durieux, had been involved and fled the scene in a black sedan.

Subsequent reports indicated that the black sedan was later involved in a traffic crash on Candler Road. It was at this point that officers made a grim discovery – Durieux was found dead from what appeared to be a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

The tragic turn of events has left the community in shock and mourning for the lives lost in this senseless act of violence. The DeKalb County police are continuing their investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident.
