Accident – Death – Obituary News :

Three teenagers from Hannibal were involved in a single-vehicle accident on Marion County Road 337, around three miles north of Palmyra, on the evening of June 9, 2024. The incident took place at approximately 6:15 p.m.

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, the driver of the vehicle, 18-year-old Austin T. Wilhoit, was driving a 2009 Kia Sportage northbound when he lost control of the vehicle. The Kia veered off the left side of the road, overturned, and ultimately came to a stop on its roof. Wilhoit and two passengers suffered moderate injuries as a result of the crash.

The passengers involved in the accident were identified as 19-year-olds Hayden T. Sims and Mason E. Wasson, both from Hannibal. None of the individuals in the vehicle were wearing seat belts at the time of the collision.

Following the accident, Wilhoit was taken to Hannibal Regional Hospital by Marion County Ambulance, while Sims was transported to Blessing Hospital in Quincy, Illinois. Wasson was also taken to Hannibal Regional Hospital by Marion County Ambulance for medical treatment.

The vehicle involved in the accident was later towed from the scene by Heartland Towing. Various local authorities, including the Marion County Sheriff’s Office, Marion County Ambulance, and Palmyra Fire Department, provided assistance at the scene.
