An ongoing operation is in progress to apprehend the individuals responsible for the tragic attack on a pilgrim bus in Reasi. The authorities have now identified the nine victims who lost their lives in the incident.

Victims’ Details Revealed

Among the deceased, four were pilgrims from Rajasthan, including a two-year-old boy, while three were from Uttar Pradesh. The fatalities also included Vijay Kumar from Dassanoo in Reasi, who was driving the bus, and Arun Kumar, the bus conductor from Kandayar, Katra.

Injured Pilgrims Under Treatment

Out of the 41 pilgrims who sustained injuries in the attack, ten individuals have gunshot wounds. Most of the injured pilgrims are from Uttar Pradesh and are currently receiving medical treatment in hospitals located across Jammu and Reasi districts.

Details of the Attack

The militants opened fire on the bus carrying pilgrims in Reasi district around 6:10 PM on Sunday, resulting in nine fatalities and multiple injuries. The attack took place in the Taryath area near the Kalakote tehsil of Rajouri district, a region surrounded by dense forests and mountains.

Suspected Assailants on the Run

Security agencies suspect that the attackers, who are believed to be operating in the Rajouri and Poonch districts and have been involved in previous incidents, managed to flee the scene after carrying out the shooting.

Identification of Victims Confirmed

Deputy Commissioner of Police (Reasi), Vishesh Paul Mahajan, has confirmed the identification of all nine victims, including the driver and conductor. Vijay Kumar was from Dasanoo Rajbagh village, while Arun Kumar hailed from Kandera village in Katra, both located in Reasi district.
