On Friday, June 7, 2024, a tragic incident occurred in Surrey, Canada, where an Indian-origin man hailing from Ludhiana was fatally shot. The victim, identified as 28-year-old Yuvraj Goyal, was the target of a suspected shooting.

Authorities swiftly responded to the scene, leading to the arrest of four individuals believed to be connected to the crime. The Royal Canadian Police, in a statement, commended the coordinated efforts of the Surrey RCMP, Air 1, and the Lower Mainland Integrated Emergency Response Team (IERT).

Despite initial indications pointing towards a targeted attack, law enforcement officials are actively investigating the motive behind Mr. Goyal’s untimely demise. Notably, the victim had no prior encounters with the police, adding to the mystery surrounding the case.

The four suspects apprehended in connection with the incident have been identified as 23-year-old Manvir Basram and 20-year-old Sahib Basra, both residents of Surrey, alongside 23-year-old Harkirat Jhutty from Surrey and 20-year-old Keilon Francois from Ontario. They have all been charged with first-degree murder.

However, Pierotti emphasized that the investigation is far from over, with IHIT investigators dedicated to uncovering the motives behind Mr. Goyal’s tragic death.
