Accident – Death – Obituary News : A 42-year-old man has been apprehended by authorities for allegedly assaulting a 70-year-old man at his residence in Shastri Nagar, located in north Delhi. The suspect asserted that his actions were driven by a desire for retribution following purported mistreatment of his female acquaintance, who worked as a maid at the victim’s household, over trivial matters, as per police reports.
The incident came to light on May 28 when police were informed about a stabbing incident at a hospital on New Rohtak Road. The victim, identified as Kanti Prakash Garg, was rendered incapable of providing a statement to law enforcement officials on the day of the attack due to sustained injuries, a senior police official revealed.
Garg later recounted to the authorities that an unidentified individual with a concealed face visited his residence, inflicted a stab wound to his abdomen without provocation, and swiftly absconded from the scene without engaging in any form of robbery or theft, shared Manoj Meena, the Deputy Commissioner of Police (north region).
Upon initiating an investigation and registering a case under Section 307 (attempted murder) of the Indian Penal Code, multiple teams were assembled to pursue leads. Through the scrutiny of closed-circuit television footage, it was discerned that the culprit had discarded his helmet at Karnal Road, allowing for the extraction of his photograph, DCP Meena stated.
“We successfully pinpointed his whereabouts, conducted raids at potential hideouts, but he managed to evade capture. However, acting on confidential intelligence, the suspect, identified as Amit and a resident of Roshanara Road, Malkaganj, was eventually apprehended in Shastri Nagar on June 6,” DCP Meena disclosed.
During interrogation, Amit reportedly confessed to his association with a woman employed as domestic help at Garg’s residence. He alleged that the elderly individual frequently subjected her to mistreatment over trivial errors and deficiencies. Motivated by a yearning for reprisal, the suspect purportedly launched the assault with a sharp-edged weapon before fleeing the scene on a friend’s scooter, the officer added.
The arrest of the perpetrator marks a significant breakthrough in the case, underscoring the diligent efforts of law enforcement in swiftly bringing the assailant to justice. The victim, Kanti Prakash Garg, is currently recuperating from his injuries as the legal proceedings against the suspect unfold..
