Accident – Death – Obituary News :

A tragic incident occurred in Cherokee County, as a 40-year-old man lost his life in a drowning accident on Lake Allatoona while tubing with a group near Little River Marina.

Emergency services, including Cherokee Fire, EMS, and the Sheriff’s Office, rushed to the scene at around 2:26 on a Sunday afternoon following reports of the incident.

The Department of Natural Resources revealed that the victim had not been wearing a life jacket when he fell off his tube. He immediately experienced leg pain, prompting several individuals to jump into the water to assist him.

Despite efforts to rescue the man, the group was forced to leave him in the water when he began dragging them underwater.

Search and rescue operations utilized side scan SONAR technology in an attempt to locate the victim. Tragically, his body was recovered by the Cherokee Fire and EMS dive team in waters measuring 16 feet deep, just before 5 p.m.

The deceased individual has been identified as 40-year-old Robbie Cornelius of Marietta. His body was subsequently handed over to the coroner for further investigation.
