ALMA, Ark. (KNWA/KFTA) — On Sunday, it will be 29 years since the tragic disappearance of Morgan Nick at an Alma ballpark.
Morgan Nick was attending a Little League baseball game at the Alma Baseball Complex with her mother on the fateful evening of June 9, 1995. She went to catch fireflies with two friends in a parking lot adjacent to the ballpark.
Despite her friends returning, six-year-old Morgan did not come back.
According to the friends, they saw a man next to a red camper truck talking to Morgan. She was last seen wearing a green Girl Scout shirt, blue denim shorts, and white tennis shoes.
In 2001, a composite sketch of the suspected abductor was released, shedding some light on the case six years after Nick’s disappearance.
The Morgan Nick Foundation’s website features the composite sketch in a poster.
The poster includes a chilling message: “I was last seen with Morgan Nick in Alma on Friday, June 9, 1995. Your hesitation to call the police and tell them who I am, for whatever reason, means I could abduct your loved one next time.”
Recent leads in the case of Morgan Nick’s disappearance have pointed towards a red truck with a white camper. Police believe this vehicle, seen at the ballpark on the night of her disappearance, was driven by Morgan’s abductor.
An age progression photo was released in 2020, showing what Morgan might look like at 31 years old.
In 2021, the FBI sought information on a person of interest in Nick’s disappearance, identifying Billy Jack Lincks, who passed away in prison in 2000, as the individual of interest.
Lincks allegedly attempted to abduct a young girl in Van Buren, just eight miles from the Alma baseball fields and around two months after Nick’s disappearance.
An Associated Press article mentioned that law enforcement agencies, including the FBI and the Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigations, searched a home in Spiro, Oklahoma, 25 miles southwest of Alma, in 2010 and 2017, but no evidence was found.
In February 2023, a four-part docuseries titled “Still Missing Morgan” was released on Hulu. The series delves into the investigation surrounding Nick’s disappearance.
