Des Moines Police have apprehended two individuals following a shooting incident that occurred in the early hours of Sunday morning on Court Avenue.

According to authorities, the incident took place just after 2 a.m. when officers patrolling the Court Avenue Entertainment District witnessed a shooting in the 100 block of Court Avenue.

The suspect, a 25-year-old male, attempted to flee from the scene but was pursued and apprehended by the officers. During the pursuit, the suspect tripped and fell, resulting in a fractured bone. He was subsequently taken to a local hospital for medical treatment. Police have indicated that he remains hospitalized and is facing multiple charges related to firearms.

In addition to the primary suspect, the police also arrested a second individual who attempted to flee the scene. The second suspect has been identified as 25-year-old Andrew Woock-Shelton from Des Moines. He has been charged with Interference With Official Acts With A Dangerous Weapon, Possession Of Marijuana, and Persons Ineligible To Carry A Dangerous Weapons.

Authorities recovered two handguns, one from each of the individuals involved in the incident. Fortunately, no injuries were reported as a result of the gunfire.

The Des Moines Police Department is continuing its investigation into the incident to determine the motive behind the shooting and any additional individuals involved. Anyone with information related to the incident is urged to contact the authorities.
