ROMPIN: The devastating accident on Jalan Kuantan-Segamat involving a bus and a trailer lorry has claimed another life, bringing the death toll to four.
DSP Nor Azman Yusof, Rompin district police chief, confirmed the tragic news on Sunday (June 9), revealing that the latest victim was identified as Dahlia Ahmad, aged 52.
Unfortunately, Dahlia Ahmad succumbed to her injuries at 9.30pm at the Tengku Ampuan Afzan Hospital (HTAA) in Kuantan.
This marks the fourth fatality in the fatal crash, following the passing of 48-year-old Hasnatul Adilah Hassan, the deputy principal 1 of Sekolah Kebangsaan (SK) Jeram, Melaka; bus driver Hadi Asyraf Mad Idris, aged 29; and school operations assistant Hamzah Ahmad, aged 60.
The tragic accident unfolded as the bus, carrying 39 passengers along with two drivers, veered off the road and overturned on a roadside slope after losing control and colliding with a trailer transporting steel coils.
The passengers, predominantly teachers from SK Jeram, Masjid Tanah, as well as their children, were en route to Terengganu when the unfortunate incident occurred.
Currently, ten passengers are still under medical care in various hospitals, receiving treatment for their injuries sustained during the accident. – Bernama
