UTAH COUNTY, Utah — A tragic discovery was made in Utah County when the lifeless body of a 19-year-old woman, who had been reported missing, was found below the picturesque Horsetail Falls. The Utah County Sheriff’s Office confirmed the devastating news, bringing a somber end to the search operation that began when her phone was discovered near the falls.
Sgt. Garrett Dutson of the Utah County Sheriff’s Office provided details of the heartbreaking incident, revealing that the young woman was located below the waterfall at Horsetail Falls. The search effort was initiated after a hiker in the area of Dry Creek Canyon reported finding the phone around 3 p.m. on Friday.
The discovery of the phone, which contained a harrowing video depicting the woman being swept away in the river, prompted an immediate response from the authorities. The Utah Department of Public Safety dispatched a helicopter to the scene, accompanied by a dedicated search and rescue team, in a bid to locate the missing hiker.
