A townhome in Barrhaven, Ottawa, which was the scene of a devastating mass homicide in March, has been put up for sale. The property at 324 Berrigan Drive is now listed on Realtor.ca for £599,900. This two-storey townhouse is situated near Berrigan Elementary School and Longfields-Davidson Heights Secondary School, making it an ideal location for families with school-going children. Monsignor Paul Baxter School is also in close proximity.

The listing highlights the property’s features, including three bedrooms, 2.5 bathrooms, and a spacious dining room and gallery kitchen. The second level of the home comprises two bedrooms, a large main bathroom, and a master bedroom with a walk-in closet and ensuite bathroom. The finished basement offers laundry facilities, storage space, and a gas fireplace. The recent upgrades to the house include granite countertops, waterproof flooring, new carpet on the stairs, air conditioning, and a private yard. Royal Lepage Realty is the agency handling the sale of the property.

Tragically, on March 6, a horrific incident took place at the townhome where six individuals, including a two-and-a-half-month-old baby girl and three children from Sri Lanka, lost their lives. The victims have been identified as 35-year-old Banbaranayake Gama Walwwe Darshani Dilanthika Ekanyake and her four children – Kelly, Ranaya, Ashwini, and Inuka. Another individual, 40-year-old Gamini Amarakoon Amarakoon Mudiyanselage, was also found deceased at the residence.

Febrio De-Soysa, a 19-year-old individual who was residing with the family, has been charged with six counts of first-degree murder and one count of attempted murder in connection with the tragic event. The family had been renting the property since June 2023. Harpreet Chhabra, the owner of the house, stated in March that he was unaware of De-Soysa living with the family, as the teenager was reportedly attending courses at Algonquin College.

The surviving victim of the attack is Dhanushka Wickramasinghe, the husband and father of the deceased individuals, who sustained serious injuries during the incident. It is important to note that none of the charges against De-Soysa have been proven in court, and the investigation into the tragic event is ongoing.
