Authorities in Omaha have taken a 24-year-old man into custody on charges of first-degree arson following a blaze that occurred in February at a residence near 24th & Hartman streets, resulting in the displacement of several individuals.

An extensive investigation was promptly launched by law enforcement, during which multiple witnesses were interviewed to piece together the events leading up to the fire.

Eyewitness Accounts

Court documents revealed that one witness recounted being awoken by loud banging on the door in the early hours of the morning. The individual at the door, later identified as Daimon Kinney, allegedly demanded entry into the residence. Upon being refused access, Kinney reportedly uttered threatening words before departing.

Shortly thereafter, another resident of the house noticed flames engulfing the exit stairs, prompting immediate action to douse the fire and ensure the safety of the occupants.

Another witness claimed to have seen Kinney outside near the stairs, making claims about being owed money by someone associated with the property.
