A heartbreaking incident has shaken the state of Ohio in the United States, as a three-year-old boy lost his life and his mother sustained injuries after being attacked by a woman.
The devastating event took place as the mother and her son were loading groceries into their car outside a supermarket in Ohio.
Security footage captured the assailant, identified as Julian Wood, following the mother and child inside the store, wielding a kitchen knife. She continued to stalk them as they exited the supermarket.
Once the mother and young boy reached the crowded parking lot to unload their groceries, the woman launched a senseless attack, stabbing both victims.
Despite the efforts of paramedics to save him, the three-year-old boy, Julian Wood, tragically succumbed to his injuries within minutes in the parking lot.
Subsequently, law enforcement apprehended the alleged perpetrator a short distance away, still in possession of the murder weapon.
Authorities have been unable to ascertain a motive for the attack, leaving the community in shock and disbelief.
The suspect has been charged with aggravated murder and appeared in court at the Rocky River Municipal Court, where she remained visibly distraught throughout the proceedings.
Further charges may be brought against the assailant pending the presentation of the case to a Cuyahoga County Grand Jury.
