BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – A tragic incident occurred in Melbourne on Saturday morning as 34-year-old Benjamin James Fish Jr. from Titusville lost his life in a fatal collision involving a Tesla Model Y and a Suzuki motorcycle.
According to Melbourne Police, the crash took place at the intersection of West Nasa Boulevard and Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard. The collision occurred when the Tesla, traveling westbound on West Nasa Boulevard, attempted to make a southbound turn onto Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard and was struck by the eastbound Suzuki.
Upon arrival at the scene, officers found the Suzuki operator suffering from life-threatening injuries. Despite immediate CPR efforts by the responding officers and Melbourne Fire Department personnel, the victim was pronounced dead at the crash site.
Melbourne Police Officer Jeffery Blair stated, “The investigation is ongoing to determine if alcohol or drugs played a role in this tragic incident.” The Traffic Enforcement Unit is treating this as a Traffic Homicide Investigation.
