HILLSBOROUGH, NJ—Search Operation Launched at Sourland Mountain Preserve
Authorities in Hillsborough, NJ, initiated a coordinated search operation at Sourland Mountain Preserve following a report from Princeton police about a missing man, as confirmed by Hillsborough Police Sgt. Philip Wolff. The search commenced around 3:05 PM after Somerset County dispatch received the alert.
The missing man, described as emotionally distraught and potentially armed, was last seen entering the park in his vehicle at approximately 2:45 PM on Thursday. His vehicle was later discovered unoccupied in the park’s parking lot on Friday.
A team comprising Somerset County K-9 units and Hillsborough police detectives conducted an extensive search and eventually found the man deceased in the wooded preserve. The NJ State Medical Examiner assessed the scene and determined the death was not suspicious.
The response involved multiple agencies, including the Hillsborough Township Police Department, Hillsborough Township of Emergency Management, Robert Wood Johnson BLS/ALS, Somerset County Sheriff’s Department, Somerset County Park Rangers, and the Hillsborough Township Fire Department.
