Luis Arguello Inglis identified by SJ State officials as the victim of a fatal shooting at SF’s Dolores Park.

LONDONA tragic incident unfolded in the heart of San Francisco as 19-year-old Luis Arguello Inglis, a student at San Jose State University, was fatally shot at Dolores Park.

SJ State officials confirmed on Friday that Inglis was enrolled in the communications studies programme.

A Gofundme campaign established to honour Inglis has exceeded its fundraising target of $10,000.

“We are devastated to announce the loss of our beloved son, Luis, in a senseless act of violence at Dolores Park. Luis was a beacon of light in our lives, brimming with love, laughter, and endless promise,” the family expressed in the fundraiser statement. The family’s message goes on to express the irreplaceable void left by his untimely passing.

The funds raised are intended to cover unforeseen expenses arising from his tragic death.

Authorities responded to a distress call at the intersection of 20th and Dolores streets on Wednesday evening following reports of a shooting. Inglis was discovered with gunshot wounds and was pronounced dead at the scene.

The city experienced a midweek heatwave which drew crowds to parks and beaches. Dolores Park, a popular destination regardless of weather conditions, was bustling with activity.

In response to the incident, city Supervisor Rafael Mandelman, responsible for the district where the park is situated, urged the public not to “overreact” but to remain vigilant. KTVU has reached out to Mandelman for further comment and is awaiting a response.

The San Francisco Standard reports that Inglis was an alumnus of SF’s Lowell High School. Efforts to confirm this information with school officials are underway.

The circumstances leading to the shooting remain unclear, and no arrests have been made as of yet.
