Accident – Death – Obituary News : A 46-year-old man from Adu Town, Ajebo Road, Mile 6, Abeokuta, has been apprehended by the Ogun State Community, Social Orientation and Safety Corps (So-Safe Corps) on suspicion of attempted murder. The suspect, identified as Ibrahim Ogunrinde, was taken into custody at Ijaye Garage in Abeokuta on Thursday, June 6, 2024, around 2:40 pm.
According to Moruf Yusuf, the Director of Information and Public Relations for So-Safe Corps, Ibrahim Ogunrinde, who works as a butcher and farmer, allegedly lured his victim, Kosu Daniel (also known as “Jeje”), under false pretenses. Ogunrinde asked Daniel to transport him to Olubo Town on Wednesday, June 5, 2024, at noon. However, instead of reaching his destination peacefully, Ogunrinde reportedly attacked Daniel, stabbing him in the neck and arm. After leaving Daniel injured and bleeding, Ogunrinde fled the scene with the victim’s motorcycle.
The motive behind the violent attack was revealed by Ogunrinde himself during questioning. He confessed that he believed Daniel had been involved in a romantic relationship with his wife two months prior, prompting him to take matters into his own hands. Ogunrinde thought he had successfully eliminated his perceived rival, unaware that Daniel had been rushed to the hospital for emergency medical treatment. At present, Daniel is receiving care at the Federal Medical Centre in Abeokuta.
Following his arrest, Ibrahim Ogunrinde and the stolen motorcycle were transferred to Magbon for further investigation. So-Safe Corps is continuing to look into the incident to gather more details and ensure justice is served.
