Accident – Death – Obituary News :

A manhunt spanning two weeks is still underway for the individual believed to possess crucial information about and the firearm used in a homicide near Matheson. The South Porcupine OPP has issued a renewed caution to the public to anticipate heightened law enforcement activity in the Highway 101 vicinity between Retreat Road and Shillington as part of an ongoing inquiry.

For the third instance within the past week, authorities have issued a similar alert, but what sets this apart is the inclusion of a photograph of Lucas MacDonald, affirming that the searches in the eastern part of the city are specifically targeting the suspect. TimminsToday has made multiple attempts to secure confirmation from the OPP regarding the searches’ relevance to the pursuit of MacDonald, and to request an interview. A response received today indicates that a new media release is currently in progress.

Recent reports from residents have detailed sightings of groups of armed officers in the area. Additionally, a helicopter has been observed circling the Connaught region this week. Visitors at Kettle Lakes Provincial Park, situated on Municipal Road where yesterday’s search was concentrated, were informed today that the park will be closed to the public for a week.

Authorities have been in pursuit of 43-year-old MacDonald since late May in connection with the killing of 30-year-old Marcel Thoma in Egan Township, located within the Matheson vicinity.

MacDonald is described as approximately 5 feet 8 inches tall, weighing between 150-160 pounds, with dark collar-length hair featuring some greying, and a thin short beard. During his last sighting, he was attired in a ballcap with a bandana underneath and wrap-around sunglasses. Additionally, two outstanding warrants have been issued for his arrest for breach of recognizance in unrelated matters.

If encountered, authorities advise extreme caution and discourage direct engagement with him. Individuals possessing information are urged to contact the OPP at 1-888-310-1122. For anonymous tips, Crime Stoppers can be reached at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).
