Accident – Death – Obituary News : A 24-year-old man met a tragic end in Ujamaa area, Likoni, Mombasa, after being viciously attacked by unknown assailants in the early hours of June 4. Mwatuji Salim was targeted in the brutal assault, suffering deep cuts to his head. He was quickly rushed to Likoni sub-county hospital by concerned members of the public, but sadly succumbed to his injuries shortly after arrival.
Following his passing, Salim’s family took charge of his burial proceedings, laying him to rest in accordance with Islamic customs. Surprisingly, the incident was not reported to the police, with the family opting to handle the matter privately. Authorities were later informed of the situation when they visited the hospital and discovered that the deceased had been interred in the Bububu area.
The motive behind the attack on Salim remains shrouded in mystery, as does the identity of his attackers. This tragic event has only served to highlight the ongoing security challenges faced by residents in the Ujamaa area, prompting urgent calls for intervention from law enforcement agencies.
Meanwhile, in Kabati, Muranga County, a gang of approximately 15 individuals descended upon Wangai Secondary School in a daring raid that resulted in the loss of life. The group targeted the school’s night guards, launching a violent attack that claimed the life of Joseph Nyoike Njuguini. The unfortunate guard was discovered tied up in a construction zone within the school premises, having sustained fatal injuries during the assault.
The perpetrators proceeded to ransack the principal’s office, making off with eight CPU computers and two laptops. Njuguini’s body was transferred to the morgue for further examination as investigations into the incident continue.
In a separate incident in Vihiga, an M-Pesa operator fell victim to a robbery at Boyani shopping centre. Three armed individuals confronted the operator, demanding cash and valuables. The assailants made off with Sh100,000 in cash, as well as the operator’s laptop, mobile phone, and two Mpesa transactional devices. Tragically, the operator sustained a gunshot wound to the head during the ordeal and was subsequently admitted to Mungoma Private Hospital for treatment.
Law enforcement officials are actively pursuing leads in all three cases, with hopes of bringing the perpetrators to justice and ensuring the safety of the affected communities.
