The accused teacher, identified as Y. W. H. (27 years old), has pleaded guilty to all 12 charges of indecent assault.
The incidents reportedly occurred between 2021 and 2022 at a school in the Tin Shui Wai district, where the accused taught. The victims, all female students at the same school, experienced various instances of misconduct at the hands of their teacher. The shocking revelations came to light when seven of the victims confided in a social worker, leading to the discovery of an additional victim who expressed regret for not speaking up earlier.
Details of the Allegations
One of the victims, referred to as Girl A, reported two instances of molestation during math class, where the accused approached her to address her raised hand and proceeded to touch her inappropriately. Similarly, Girl B and Girl C, students in the general science class taught by the accused, shared their harrowing experiences of misconduct, highlighting the gravity of the situation.
Further accounts of misconduct involved Girl D to Girl G, with each victim recounting disturbing incidents of inappropriate touching and groping by the accused teacher. The incidents not only left the students feeling violated but also instilled fear and discomfort among them.
Moreover, Girl X, who was subjected to multiple instances of indecent assault, bravely came forward after hearing similar experiences from her classmates. Her courage in speaking out led to the re-arrest of the accused teacher in June of the following year.
Legal Proceedings and Outcome
During the court hearing, the accused teacher, Y. W. H., pleaded guilty to all 12 counts of indecent assault. Temporary judge Veronica Heung Shuk-yin ordered that he remain in custody until 21st June for the collection of background, psychological, and psychiatric reports. The court will consider these reports in determining the appropriate sentence for the accused.
