Deepak Gautam : “Mumbai Local Train Molestation: Woman Assaulted at Malad Station, Suspect Caught”

Mumbai, 7th June: A disturbing incident took place on a Mumbai local train, where a woman was subjected to molestation by a man who brazenly asked her if she would engage in a physical relationship with him. The perpetrator, identified as Deepak Gautam, was swiftly apprehended by the Borivali railway police following a complaint filed under Section 509 of the Indian Penal Code. The incident occurred on the evening of Wednesday, 5th June.

As reported by the Free Press Journal, the victim, a 26-year-old resident of Kandivali, was travelling to her workplace in Churchgate when she was approached by Gautam at Malad station around 9:30 am. In a shocking turn of events, the accused made lewd advances towards the woman, prompting her to seek immediate help from the railway police.

Swift Action by Authorities

Reacting promptly to the distress call, the railway police took action without delay and arrested Gautam for his inappropriate behavior. This incident serves as a stark reminder of the prevalent issue of molestation and harassment faced by women in public spaces.

In a similar incident earlier this year in April, a 28-year-old man was taken into custody for molesting a female yoga instructor on a crowded suburban train in Mumbai. The victim, accompanied by a male friend, was travelling between Bandra and Goregaon when the perpetrator, Pravan Vishwakarma, took advantage of the crowded train to inappropriately touch her.

The authorities have been urged to take stringent action against perpetrators of such crimes to ensure the safety and security of women commuters. It is essential to create a conducive environment where individuals can travel without fear of harassment or assault.
