COWLITZ COUNTY Wash. (KPTV) – The Cowlitz County Sheriff’s Office has apprehended a man who allegedly attempted to lure a 12-year-old female student into his truck on May 31.
According to reports, the incident took place at the student’s bus stop on South Cloverdale Road, where the man persistently tried to persuade her to enter his vehicle.
The young girl claimed that the man warned her about two threatening individuals in the vicinity, although there were no other witnesses to confirm this.
Authorities verified that the student had no prior acquaintance with the suspect, and her parents had not authorised anyone to transport her in a vehicle.
Subsequently, the student informed her bus driver that she had spotted the suspect driving past their school bus in the same truck.
Security footage from the bus revealed that the suspect’s vehicle was a white Toyota truck with a cargo rack.

Following an investigation, a matching truck was discovered at a residence in the 2200 block of South Cloverdale Road.
The owner of the vehicle, identified as James Lee Porter, 57, from Woodland, was subsequently arrested for luring and taken into custody.
The student positively identified Porter as the individual who had attempted to lure her into his truck, and confirmed that it was the same vehicle used during the incident.

The Woodland School District promptly reported the incident to the sheriff’s office, ensuring the safety and well-being of its students.
