Pursuit leads to arrest of two Fresno residents

Authorities in Arroyo Grande were quick to respond to reports of an attempted vehicle theft on Wednesday afternoon. The incident took place at 1576 West Branch St. when a locked vehicle was broken into, and an attempt was made to steal it. Police were able to gather crucial information, including the license plate and description of the suspect vehicle, which led to a coordinated effort to track down the culprits.
At 5:22 pm, the Grover Beach Police Department located the suspect vehicle and attempted to initiate a traffic stop. However, the suspect refused to comply and instead led police on a dangerous pursuit. For the safety of the public, the pursuit was eventually called off.
Subsequently, at 5:55 p.m., the Pismo Beach Police discovered the abandoned suspect vehicle in the 900 block of Skyline Dr. The vehicle had been reported stolen from the City of Fresno and was using license plates from a similar vehicle.
Upon further investigation, Arroyo Grande Police officers spotted a man walking on N. Oak Park and James Way who matched the description of one of the suspects. The man was identified as 41-year-old Daniel Ibarra from Fresno and was promptly arrested on charges of conspiracy, attempted theft of a vehicle, possession of stolen property, and identity theft.
Additionally, a female accomplice, identified as 32-year-old Corina Medrano, was also apprehended in the same area. Medrano, also from Fresno, was arrested for attempted theft of a vehicle, conspiracy, possession of stolen property, providing false identification to a peace officer, possession of drug paraphernalia, and two outstanding felony arrest warrants from Fresno, one for burglary and theft of a motor vehicle.
Both Ibarra and Medrano were taken into custody and booked into the San Luis Obispo County Jail to await further legal proceedings.
