ALOHA Oregon (KPTV) – A heartwarming story unfolded in Aloha, Oregon, as a dog that was rescued by police due to animal abuse has found a loving home with a deputy at the Washington County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputy Armstrong shared that during the course of the investigation, he developed a strong bond with the dog, formerly known as Dice, and made the decision to adopt her. He lovingly renamed her Trilly, a shortened version of Trillium.

Trilly’s journey to safety began on May 5 when police responded to a call from the current owner, reporting that the dog had been passed on to them by her previous owner in a severely injured state.

Upon arrival, deputies discovered Trilly, a female mixed-breed dog, cowering in a corner with visible wounds on her face, head, and neck, and singed whiskers. It was evident that she had endured significant suffering.

Further investigation revealed that the previous owner had knowingly transferred Trilly to the current owner in her injured state. The concerned individual who contacted the authorities relinquished any claim to Trilly, allowing deputies to take her into their care for urgent medical attention.

Following a visit to the veterinarian, it was determined that the injuries sustained by Trilly were a result of neglect and abuse at the hands of her previous owner.

The perpetrator, identified as 41-year-old Brandon Ash of Beaverton, was subsequently arrested and charged with first-degree animal abuse, first-degree animal neglect, and second-degree animal neglect.

Deputy Armstrong expressed his joy at welcoming Trilly into his home, where she has seamlessly integrated into the family and is thriving in her new environment.

He extended his gratitude to Tanasbourne Veterinary Emergency and the Bonnie L. Hays Animal Shelter for their invaluable assistance in ensuring a smooth transition for Trilly into her new life.
