Accident – Death – Obituary News :

A man arrested in a human trafficking sting operation has been sentenced to 80 months in prison, as reported by the Washington County District Attorney’s Office.

The individual, identified as 21-year-old Julius Lavant Mitchell, entered a guilty plea on charges of unlawful delivery of cocaine, promoting prostitution, being a felon in possession of a firearm, and tampering with a witness on May 28.

The events unfolded on April 30 when Beaverton police carried out a human trafficking sting by posing as interested buyers of sexual services online.

Detectives engaged with a woman who arrived at a designated location and was observed exiting Mitchell’s vehicle.

Following the departure of the vehicle from the location, law enforcement conducted a traffic stop.

At the time of the incident, Mitchell, who was driving the vehicle, already had a criminal record and had recently completed a prison term in Washington for convictions related to second-degree robbery and assault.

Discovery of Illegal Activities

Upon searching the vehicle, investigators discovered the presence of a minor, a firearm, substantial quantities of cocaine and dexamphetamine, drug paraphernalia associated with trafficking, and close to $2,000 in cash.

Authorities engaged with the woman passenger and verified that she had been compelled to engage in prostitution, with Mitchell acting as her pimp.

Further examination of digital evidence from the phones of both Mitchell and the woman confirmed his role as the perpetrator of human trafficking.

While in custody, Mitchell made several phone calls to acquaintances, instructing them to persuade the minor to take responsibility for the drugs instead of him.

Additionally, he coerced the woman into denying his involvement as her pimp, and made threats of violence towards her if she did not comply.

The man, who has Hepatitis C, allegedly spit blood into a deputy’s open mouth.
