Accident – Death – Obituary News : A Pineville resident has been taken into custody following the tragic demise of a fellow inmate, accused of smuggling and providing fentanyl to the deceased woman early on Tuesday, as per the Rapides Parish Sheriff’s Office.

The victim has been identified as Eugenia Maurice Mitchell, a 31-year-old individual from Alexandria, according to a press release.

Authorities at the Rapides Parish Detention Center #1 in downtown Alexandria were alerted around 1 a.m. on Tuesday about Mitchell experiencing a medical emergency. She was found unresponsive and not breathing, prompting the administration of Narcan. Despite efforts by jail staff and the arrival of Acadian Ambulance personnel, Mitchell was declared deceased around 1:45 a.m., states the release.

Investigative work revealed that a woman, Kimberly Sarah Ekko Juderman, who had been booked into the jail on the same day, allegedly concealed fentanyl within a body cavity and smuggled it into the detention center. Subsequently, Juderman reportedly provided the fentanyl to the inmate, who ingested it and suffered a fatal overdose.

An autopsy is scheduled to determine the official cause of Mitchell’s death. Juderman has been arrested and charged with second-degree murder, introduction of contraband into a penal facility, and possession of fentanyl with intent to distribute. Bail has been set at £1,150,500.

According to jail records, Juderman was originally booked on June 3 for a city probation violation and a failure to pay a fine warrant.

The investigation remains ongoing, with the possibility of additional charges being brought forth, as stated in the release..
