Delroy “George” Parkes : “Toronto Shooting: Second Man Dead, Police Investigation”

Another victim has tragically passed away following a shooting incident in Rexdale on Sunday evening, Toronto police have confirmed.

Const. Ashley Visser stated that they have “information that another individual has died in hospital” and that an autopsy will be conducted to determine the cause of death. It has not yet been confirmed whether the death is directly related to the shooting.

The identity of the second victim has not been released by authorities. In total, five men sustained gunshot wounds in the incident, which took place near Kipling Avenue and Mount Olive Drive.

One of the victims, identified as 61-year-old Delroy “George” Parkes, succumbed to his injuries after being rushed to the hospital in critical condition. The other victims are currently receiving medical treatment for their wounds.

During a press conference, Det.-Sgt. Phillip Campbell revealed that one of the surviving victims sustained “serious, life-altering” injuries. The victims were all part of a men’s soccer team and were socializing when the shooting occurred.

Police Investigation

A police source with direct knowledge of the investigation disclosed that the shooting may have been random, and a vehicle of interest has been seized in connection to the incident. Surveillance footage of the vehicle has been obtained by CP24.

The footage shows a pickup truck colliding with a parked car before a police cruiser arrives at the scene. Officers can be seen instructing the occupants of the pickup to surrender as they attempt to flee. The crash occurred approximately four kilometres away from the shooting site.

Investigators are still working to determine the vehicle’s link to the shooting, but it is considered a significant lead in the case. Toronto police have heightened their presence in the Rexdale area, establishing a command post and conducting thorough searches for witnesses and additional surveillance footage.
