High-Speed Pursuit Ends in Arrest of Woman in Livingston County, Michigan
A dramatic high-speed chase came to a dramatic end in Livingston County, Michigan, on Tuesday, June 4, when law enforcement officers arrested a woman suspected of driving under the influence of drugs, without a valid license or insurance, and with multiple outstanding felony warrants.
The incident began in Brighton Township just before 8:30 p.m. when Livingston County Sheriff’s deputies attempted to pull over a Ford F-350 for having an improperly affixed license plate that appeared to be unregistered. The driver of the truck refused to stop, leading to a high-speed pursuit that reached speeds exceeding 80 mph as it travelled into Hamburg Township.
The Hamburg Township Public Safety Department deployed stop sticks to deflate three of the truck’s tires, eventually forcing the vehicle to come to a halt at the end of Old Road.
The driver, a 48-year-old woman from Putnam Township, and her passenger were both apprehended at the scene. The woman is expected to face charges including driving with a suspended license, operating a vehicle without insurance, driving an unregistered vehicle, fleeing and eluding law enforcement, resisting arrest, driving under the influence of drugs, and possession of methamphetamine.
The passenger, a 38-year-old man from Brighton Township, was taken into custody on outstanding warrants but will not be charged in connection with the pursuit.
