The Atlanta Police Department is set to hold a press briefing at 1 p.m. to provide updates on the recent development in the case involving the apprehension of Steven Oboite in connection with the tragic demise of Allahnia Lenoir, who was reported missing on August 1, 2022.

The Tragic Disappearance of Allahnia Lenoir

Lenoir, a 24-year-old woman, was last seen at a residential complex in Midtown Atlanta on Peachtree Street on July 31, 2022. She had been visiting the building with a friend before she was reported missing on August 1. Although her body has not been located, authorities suspect foul play in her disappearance.

Nearly three months later, Atlanta police identified two individuals, namely Steven Oboite and Diante Reynolds, as suspects in Lenoir’s disappearance. Subsequently, a third suspect, Nicholas Hendrickson, was linked to the case in January 2023, although he currently faces charges unrelated to murder. Investigators believe that Hendrickson assisted Oboite and Reynolds in disposing of Lenoir’s remains after her demise.

Reynolds was taken into custody on August 9, 2022, and is facing charges including felony murder, concealing the death of another, tampering with evidence, identity theft, and forgery. He is currently being held without bail at the Fulton County Jail.

Hendrickson was arrested on November 25, 2022, and has been charged with offences such as concealing the death of another, tampering with evidence, making false statements, and obstructing the apprehension or punishment of a criminal. Despite multiple attempts to secure bond, Hendrickson remains in custody.

PRIOR DEVELOPMENTS

The Arrest of Steven Oboite

Oboite had evaded authorities since Lenoir’s disappearance until his recent apprehension.

While riding a jet ski on Lake Allatoona in Bartow County, Oboite was approached by game wardens from Georgia’s Department of Natural Resources for a no-wake violation. He attempted to flee, abandoning the jet ski and escaping into the nearby woods. Following a pursuit, game wardens apprehended him and discovered his connection to Lenoir’s case.

In addition to charges related to Lenoir’s disappearance, Oboite faces legal consequences in Bartow County for offences including boating under the influence, obstruction, and violating water traffic regulations.

Upon learning of Oboite’s arrest, Lenoir’s mother, Jeanette Jackson, expressed surprise and frustration.

“Witnessing you enjoying yourself at Lake Allatoona indicates your lack of intention to surrender yourself,” stated Jackson.

She further conveyed her anguish at Oboite’s leisurely activities while her daughter’s whereabouts remain unknown.

“Disclose the location of my daughter. Disclose what befell her. Reveal where you concealed her, as she has vanished without a trace,” implored Jackson.
