The incident took place near the Top Kat Super Laundromat, where the young child wandered out of an open door and onto the road, only to be struck by a vehicle.
According to eyewitnesses, the tragic event unfolded around 11 p.m., with a loud noise drawing their attention to the scene where the little girl lay injured. Despite immediate efforts to rush her to Connecticut Children’s Medical Center, Camila was pronounced dead upon arrival.
The vehicle responsible for the hit-and-run was later located in New Haven, approximately 45 minutes south of Hartford. Authorities identified the car as a 2013 black BMW 328xi bearing a Connecticut registration number “BD98328.” A person has been detained for questioning by New Haven police, though details surrounding the ongoing investigation remain scarce.
